The rules of the game

Playing

• By creating an account or using PocketSkies, you agree to these terms and to our privacy page.
• You must be at least 13 to create an account. Younger pilots play on an account a parent or guardian creates and keeps.
• One account per person. Keep your password to yourself.
• Pick a pilot name you would be happy for a kid to read. We can change or remove one that is not.

Fair play

Catching a plane means it was really over you. The server checks every catch against the live feed. Please do not:

• Fake your location or send made-up positions to catch planes you cannot see.
• Script, scrape, or flood the app or its API.
• Use someone else’s account, or bother other pilots.
• Break into, probe, or interfere with the service or the receivers connected to it.

If you do, we may remove cards, suspend the account, or close it.

Your cards and your content

• Your album is yours to enjoy, share, and show off.
• When you share a card, you make a public page for it. Anyone with the link can see the card and your pilot name. You can ask us to take a share page down.
• Pilot names, friend codes, and anything else you type in must be your own and must not be hateful, rude, or about someone else.

The live plane data

Aircraft positions come from volunteer networks: adsb.lol, with adsb.fi as a fallback. Flight routes come from adsbdb. Aircraft photos come from Wikipedia. The ODbL notice for adsb.lol appears at the bottom of every page and inside the app.

All of this is provided as is. Neither we nor the data sources promise it is complete, current, or correct. Planes can be missing, late, or mislabeled. Never use PocketSkies for navigation, safety, or any decision where a wrong answer matters.

• If a plane is missing or wrong, that is the nature of a hobby feed, not a bug we can always fix.
• The sources can change their rules or go offline. If one does, parts of PocketSkies may stop or change.
• Please do not pull the plane data out of PocketSkies to republish it.

No warranty, limited liability

PocketSkies is a free game run by a small team, offered as is and as available. We do not promise it will always work, always be accurate, or always be around. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage from using it, including anything that comes from the live data being wrong. If something in PocketSkies is causing you a problem, stop using it and tell us.

Pro and paid features

Everything in PocketSkies is free today. If we add a paid tier, we will say what it costs and what you get before you pay, and these terms will be updated to cover it.

Ending things

• You can delete your account any time by emailing hello@pocketskies.com. See the privacy page for what gets removed.
• We can suspend or close accounts that break these rules.
• We may change or shut down PocketSkies. If we shut it down, we will give notice where we can.

Changes to these terms

When these terms change, we update the date at the top. Big changes get a note in the app or an email. Playing after a change means you accept it.
